Did You Miss These? I Hope Not!

A new year has begun, and you know what that means. It’s time to look back on 2017 to celebrate the things we can and change the things we can’t. YOU made some amazing things happen this past year. I bet you didn’t know that!

When you share a post to Facebook, you help The MOM Journey find new readers. If they like what you shared, they share it, too. A cycle of sharing begins, and if things get really crazy, a post goes viral.

We had (4) posts go viral in 2017 once they were shared to Facebook and then shared even more on Facebook. If you missed one of these, I invite you to click on the title and check it out:

I Didn’t Know That Then was one of the most popular posts in 2016, so I re-posted it in 2017. This time it went viral. Now that my oldest daughter Kelli has an engagement ring on her finger, this one has new meaning for me.

An Open Letter to My Daughter Upon Graduation was a hard post for me to write. We were entering a new phase in life, and being a good mom means I had to speak some hard truths…to both of us. It must have resonated with a lot of moms because a lot of moms shared it.

For the next (2) posts, I took off my mom hat and put on my teacher hat. But really, is there a difference?

For the Teacher Who Can’t is my rant against the biggest lie ever told about our profession.

For the Kid Who Doesn’t Get the Award was the most emotional post for me to write and the most emotional one for you to read, based on the number of heartbreaking comments readers left. Even though it first appeared eight months ago, it still gets hits daily and has been shared to Facebook over 40,000 times. Thank you!

If you missed one of these posts the first time, check it out. If you think it’s worth sharing, click the Facebook button at the end, so more moms can join us on the journey!

2017 IAN Book of the Year

One more thing happened in 2017 that is worth celebrating. You helped me launch my debut! You read it, reviewed it on Amazon, posted pictures of it on Facebook and said wonderful things that made others read it, and more and more and more. You are the core group who launched WAITING FOR BUTTERFLIES into the world. I couldn’t be more sincere when I say if it weren’t for my friends on The MOM Journey, Butterflies would have debuted in April and would have been forgotten by May. You truly don’t know what you did.

So those are the things to celebrate. Now here are two things to change.

When you choose to spend time on The MOM Journey, I want your time here to be worth it. Since book launch, it has become increasingly more difficult for me to have the energy to think through a topic intelligently and write about it creatively on a weekly basis. If you read last week’s post, you already know I’ll be posting monthly in 2018. A less demanding schedule will allow me to share the kind of content that I hope makes a difference for moms in some little way.

And in 2018, I’m bringing back the monthly give-aways (YAY)! I just don’t know of a better way to say THANK YOU for being here with me (and for sticking around for nearly two years) than a gift card from Hobby Lobby, Amazon, AVRC or Starbucks, for a mani or pedi, or (fill in the blank). Besides, give-aways are just fun! And so is sharing this mom thing with so many incredible moms! See you next month!

Blessings!

Karen, you have written some amazing and inspirational posts. Congratulations on your well-deserved success.

Blogging takes a lot of time, and I think you’re wise to cut back. I post every other week and sometimes that feels like too much!
